We promote intercultural learning
join us for a voluntary service in germany!
Please note: you must be linked to a partner organisation of Ecoselva in order to apply for a volunteer year!
The selection is made through our partners.
Since 2017, there has also been the possibility for young people from partner organizations in the Dominican Republic, Peru and India, as well as in countries where Ecoselva implements projects, to spend a year volunteering in Germany. For them there are volunteer positions in botanical gardens, youth hostels, centers for the disabled, among others. The young people are placed with German host families.
The main objective of the South-North component is to promote intercultural learning and the personal development of the young people. Knowledge acquisition is also an important part, but not the primary objective of the weltwaerts program.
As with the North-South component, the costs of transportation, accommodation, food, allowance and health insurance for the young people are fully covered by the program.
Ecoselva provides orientation and support, including a preparatory seminar after their arrival in Germany, an intermediate seminar and a final seminar. For work and personal situations, the young people can count on two mentors, who were volunteers in Peru and the Dominican Republic, as well as mentors in different German cities, most of whom are former volunteers themselves.
The selection of the young people sent to Germany is done in close coordination with the partner organizations.
Requirements for participation in the program:
Be a young man or woman between 20 and 28 years of age.
Be linked to an Ecoselva partner organization.
Be open-minded, proactive and motivated to practice your German prior to your arrival in Germany.
Be interested in environmental issues and take advantage of your stay in Germany to acquire new knowledge in this area.
Maintain the link with the local organization in your home country during your stay in Germany and after your return home.
Exchange your new knowledge after your return and act as a multiplier.
